Where do you work?
I’m a Water Network Operative, covering the Tendring area.
How long have you worked at Affinity Water? and what made you join?
Seven years, with a one-year break where I joined Essex Police – that role wasn’t for me, so I was lucky enough to get a job back at Affinity Water East. I came back to the business because I enjoyed the work and knew there was a great group of people to work with
Tell us about your role – what does a normal day’s work include?
My role consists of installing and maintaining new and existing water mains and services. The role has changed a lot over my short time here. There is a lot more emphasis on health and safety, and we are moving away from paper works orders to a new system on Maximo. A normal day consists of interacting with the public, either fixing leaking water pipes and mains or laying new mains and connections.
What are you most proud of in your career at Affinity Water?
Being voted in as a Union Representative, to help work with employees and the company to make sure we are working together to make a happy, fair, productive business.
What’s a great day at work for you?
Working alongside colleagues, to help meet the business’s objectives and fulfilling all customers’ needs with a smile on my face.
