Where do you work?
At the laboratory

How long have you worked at Affinity Water?
I started in 2006 when part of the laboratory was based in Watford before it moved to Staines in 2007.

What made you join/stay with Affinity Water?
Over the last few years, I have been supported to carry out my studies. I have also received support in my work and have had the opportunity to learn about different parts of the business. It is also enjoyable working in an environment that nurtures people

Tell us about your role
The microbiology team analyse water samples every day of the year to ensure customers are supplied with high-quality water.  My role is to support the team and ensure they have the tools and support to carry out their role, as well as to work with the other teams to ensure we are continuously improving our methods and systems.

What do you enjoy about your job?
The people, it’s great to be part of a supportive team. They are always willing to help and go the extra mile to ensure work is done to a high quality.  They are also really good at sharing snacks so there are always treats around for when you need it.  As one of my team members said to me ‘sharing is caring’.

Working in the lab is great as everyone is always willing to share knowledge and skills to ensure that we are always striving to be the best

What are you most proud of in your career at Affinity Water?
I am proud to be part of a team that continuously inspire me. They are all willing to share in their expertise to solve problems and support each other with their workload as well as taking an interest in each other’s wellbeing.

What’s a great day at work for you?
A great day is ensuring that my and my team’s wellbeing is a priority. It also involves the feeling that I have made a positive difference in aiding the team to carry out their workload.
